Library Announces Digital Video Game Resource PDF Print E-mail

OnePlay smCumberland County Library and partner RBdigital from Recorded Books, Inc. (Prince Frederick, MD) are pleased to announce the availability of digital video game resource OnePlay VIP Library Edition.

OnePlay VIP Library Edition library a digital gaming service that enables them to instantly download and play unlimited Android and PC games for free. OnePlay VIP Library Edition includes over 1,000 games (with more than 1500 PC titles and more than 500 Android titles) from over 75 different publishers.

As part of this service, new games are added daily, and users are not subject to holds or waiting. Cumberland County Library users simply download games and play them offline on PCs, Android tablets and smartphones.

“Many public libraries have made the foray into computer, video, and mobile gaming. Given the normal start-up costs and maintenance involved, it might have been cost-prohibitive for us at the point,” said Library Director Myron Estelle. “But, this access presented a very reasonable start-up cost, plus a method for acquiring games that most gamers now see as the norm – downloads. With increased bandwidth to all devices these days, you see a lot less physical items in stores. The titles in this collection are free, and even if you don’t have high-speed access at home, the library can help there, too, with its excellent wireless access. We’re thrilled to give our users even more access to even more diverse materials.”

"Since this product does share common elements with the non-library, paid version," Estelle continued, "I would recommend users always login first to see ONLY the free games for Library VIPs."

Please see a member of Cumberland County Library's technical staff for more information on how to access this service or go to the web site, http://www.CCLNJ.org.
